Tex Mex in Baltimore

Now there's no shortage of tex mex food in Baltimore, but there is a difference between good tex mex and great tex mex food. Recently my fiance took me to Carolina's Tex Mex in fells point on Broadway street. I'm not a big margarita drinker but they had the best frozen margarita I've ever had. The cheese pupusas were awesome and the tacos al pastor were to die for. It is a family run restaurant and the staff made you feel like you were part of the family. So if your in baltimore city looking for tex mex, I would check them out.http://www.carolinastexmex.com/
Oh and one other thing if your down by Carolina's Tex Mex, stop around the corner on Eastern ave. at Tortilleria Sinaloa and pick up some fresh made corn tortilla. They're hot, delicious, homemade, and cheap at $2.50 for about 30 tortillas.http://tortilleria-sinaloa.com/

Jack's Bistro

The bar
The dining room
The fantastic poutine
For me I think Jack's Bistro is probably the best restaurant in Baltimore. The atmosphere is something of a cross between a tiki bar and a hipster cafe. From the bedazzled walls of shag art to the friendly inviting staff, it's always a pleasant experience. The drink menu offers a wide selection of beers, wine, and inventive cocktails. While the food is interesting while being comforting, and always delicious. Personal favorites of mine our the steak frites and poutine. The steak is cooked using the sous vide method. Sous vide is when you cook in an airtight bag in a circulating water bath at a low temperature for a long period of time and then seared on the grill, so it's always tender and juicy. The poutine is heavenly, specially for someone like me who loves french fries. The poutine there is shoestring french fries with fresh cheese curds and a gravy made with foie gras on it. So if I were you I would check it out. http://www.jacksbistro.net/

Mr. T tea set

If you grew up in the 80's like me, you may have loved the A-team and especially Mr. T. So you'll understand why I was so happy when I found this. Not sure why it took this long, but British designer Matt Jones just released this “Mr. Tea”custom tea set, which includes “A cup and saucer, a golden stirrer and sugar cubes, and Mr. T sticking out of the top”. Only 250 were made in this limited run but at $70, I don't think I'll be buying one.

The Antique Man

Giant mummy
Giant ball of string(actually real)
Dracula's son
The other day I went to an antique store with my fiance. She tricked me into going by telling me they had obscure stuff, which peaked my interest. The place is called The Antique Man, which is on fleet street in baltimore city. For my fiance it was somewhat of a let down, the place mostly consisted of  reproduced antiques and oddities, most of which were overpriced. But for me it was basically a gallery of reproduced oddities and carnival posters, which was mildly amusing and all for free. The place is named after a giant mummy. Some of the more interesting oddities are a giant ball of string and an artistic rendering of Dracula's son. All things consider, for the price it was worth it.
